So as I’ve mentioned in my very first post, I have an Etsy store called Something Winnderful that is the inspiration for the title of my blog. For the past month is has been on vacation for the holidays and to finalize my future plans for the store.
I have finally figured out its future and am ready to share with you all.
I have officially closed Something Winnderful.
It’s a little bit sad but more of a relief if I were to be completely honest. I spent a lot of time thinking about what I really wanted out of Something Winnderful. I loved the work that went into running the store, but the actual work of making the product became incredibly time consuming and overwhelming.
It was when my store really started to pick up that I discovered how I truly felt about my product. Something Winnderful sold custom hand-painted coolers that looked like this:
I decided to create Something Winnderful because I loved painting coolers for my friends. I thought it was a great opportunity to make some money while doing something I enjoyed. I even loved reading and learning how to be successful on Etsy.
But once my store truly began to be successful I realized painting coolers became less fun. It went from being something I loved to do in my free time to taking up all my free time and causing stress in other areas of my life.
I considered changing the products of my store. I intended to move from only doing custom work to focusing more on predesigned, ready for purchase coolers. But after much thought and consideration I think a break from the store will be the best in the long run. It will give me the time to devote to job searching and other areas of my life that deserve attention. If there is anything I have learned it’s that there is no need to add unnecessary stress. This blog will continue as a creative outlet for myself and I look forward to everything I have coming in the future.
